A little poll for you moms out there. . .

Well, my friend Melanie and I were talking today about how much $$ we spend on kids clothes every year. She spends a lot less than me so I was wondering what everyone else spends?? I know I spend at least $100 per kid on just clothes ( I do shop sales and clearances, I do usually buy their clothes new, but I am not opposed to nice hand-me-downs), I am not including shoes in that amount. I'm sure it could be more than that. Anyone else??

Considering how kids grow, and the cost of a decent winter jacket alone (okay, maybe not needed in Texas) I think $100 is pretty reasonable -- that's less than $10 a month. I spend less than that, but **only** because my mother and aunt go overboard on the clothes they buy for my kids. I probably spent $40 a year on jeans/shorts for K and socks/underwear (all Target). It's probably slightly less for the babies. I spent about $50 twice a year at the big Moms of Twins sale for all three kids, but that includes shoes. That's still around $70 per kid, though. So, considering that I almost never buy shirts, dresses, bathingsuits, pajamas, or outerwear for the kids, your figure of $100 is pretty dang good.

I've got no idea! I should figure that out. I wouldn't be surprised if I have spent that much on Emma. I'm sure I have. With TS, I think I've spend under $30 on him in the past 15 months. I think $100 is very reasonable like Jessica said:-)

Yeah, I think it really depends on who relatives are, etc. My little sister's baby is only 5 months younger than Andrew so she will never buy her son clothes because she gets all of Andrew's hand-me-downs. My step-mom is super generous when it comes to Hailey's clothes, she usually buys most of them. I got a lot of hand-me-downs for Andrew so I really have only bought him a swim suit and shoes.
However, I did go to the Old Navy clearance sale and bought both kids their fall/winter wardrobe for $72 total. (But I had gift cards, so I really didn't spend anything) I think $100/year per kid if you have no other means of getting kids clothes is really good.

I think 100 bucks is very reasonable. Between Sunday clothes, school clothes, coats and shoes, $100 goes fast. I will say that spring/summer wardrobes are a lot cheaper than winter and we may not hit the $100 mark. But, again, Sunday clothes and other shoes do add up even in the summer. Plus, I don't have a girl yet. I can't say that I'll be perfectly thrifty with her.

We put aside 50 a month for the kids clothing. Which comes to $600 a year. My boys seem to be rough with their jeans so they don't get passed down as much. This also includes shoes. I don't know if I spend all 600 on the boys. Now that Dylan is almost out of kids clothing I'm sure I'll have to adjust that amount. Shoes alone, yikes!!

Do you even want to know?? You will be so proud of yourself after my comment. It isn't exact, but we spend about $1200 a year on the kids clothes. Bruce would love you if you would teach me a thing or two. I can't believe that you can buy everything for that amount. Just Keeton's Easter dress and sweater this year was $62.

HI! I hope you don't mind I found your blog off Teresa's. I had no idea so many in our ward were bloggers!

I'm thinking $100/year per kid is pretty thrifty. We do more than that, but I don't know exactly how much. And my mother in law buys a lot of the boys' clothes. I guess it's a good thing we don't have a girl-- I'd shop us broke for her wardrobe! LOL

I'm not sure how much I spend on the kids' clothes, but I can tell you this. I'm almost sure I spend more on Maisy's clothes than Wilson's. I just can't resist girl clothes!!

WOW, I don't know. Conner is getting into the bigger husky sizes that are hard to find so I have to pay a bit more for things for him. I would say 100$ is low for me. I do buy tons of used things, and get a lot of use out of hand me downs too. Hmmm, I should add it up sometimes!

I don't spend very much-but my sister gives me all of her daughters old clothes and I go to a couple of sales a year (used of course) I buy maybe 10 items a year that are not used-but still Walmart! One of these days I will be able to shop like Misti! HA! LUCKY GIRL!
