AAAARGH!
The 4th graders performed a pirate musical in which Kaleb was a prisoner pirate. It was really cute!

Pinewood Derby
I am a little behind in posting this- but last month Kaleb participated in his first Pinewood Derby. He had a great time, and his car did well (I think it came in 3rd place??). What I love about him is that he can be such a goofball. He designed his car to look like his dad's truck, and then decorated it with Pokemon stickers.

Kaleb's Birthday and Baptism

We had a busy weekend. On Friday Kaleb turned 8 years old. Friday night I let him have his friend who is moving soon sleep over. We took them to Peter Piper Pizza for pizza, games, and cake, then came home and set out their sleeping bags. They stayed up until 2:30 in the morning (I told them to go to sleep by 1am) then were up at 7am ready to play some more. Crazy! Saturday Kaleb was baptized. I'm so proud of him. He chose his favorite restaurant to go to afterwards, Grand Buffet. He loves their seafood. His favorite foods are very unique for an eight year old. My mother in law was in town to celebrate with him, and my parents came also. He had such a great time. We got him a Nintendo DS which he was very excited about. He would never tell us what he wanted, just kept saying anything was fine, other than he really wanted a chess game (which we got him of course). I'm glad he loved his gift since he does not really ask for much. He is so easy going. I love having him in our family.

Not bragging. . .
I'm not one to brag about my kids, of course I think they are cute/smart/talented because they are MINE. I am sure all of you think the same about your kids (Kim has a friend that brags about his ALL.THE.TIME, I have a hard time not commenting about it when he goes on and on, anyway). But I want to post this because I am really proud of Kaleb and sometimes I feel like he gets "the shaft". He is not the oldest or the youngest or the only girl, he is easy to please and fun to be around and really causes no trouble so I try really hard to make sure he gets the same attention as everyone else. He got the principal's award at school today and his teacher had wonderful things to say about him. He was super excited about the trophy. He told Kim to take it home and put it up high next to his baseball one so Logan won't break it. Too funny.

Kaleb's birthday!
Yesterday was my sweet boy's 7th birthday and I was so busy that I did not get to the computer to post this. He had a fun family party at Chuck E Cheese on Labor Day, yesterday he took cupcakes to share with the other first graders. We are so happy he joined our family 7 years ago, he is an awesome kid!

Kindergarten Music Program
Kaleb was so excited for me to come to his music program on Friday. I was not sure how he was going to be since he hardly utters a word during singing time in primary. The school music teacher either knows a secret of how to get him excited to sing, or has a really great bribery I don't know about. Kaleb not only sang every song but danced too! It was so cute! The first picture is all the Kindergarten kids, they were told to wear their purple Kindergarten shirts, Kaleb was so afraid I would forget (I'm usually pretty good about NOT forgetting that kind of stuff). I do have to admit, the couple of kids that did forget kind of stand out! I can't believe the school year is almost done, and I will have another Kindergartener next year!!

It's Baseball Season
Kaleb chose to try out baseball instead of soccer this year. So far he loves it! He got his first hit at the game Tuesday night, but when he was almost to first base they called it a foul. He was pretty disappointed. It's coach pitch when you are his age, and their coach pitches them pretty fast! I don't think I could hit them at all, so I am impressed when these young kids get a hit! Anyway, I think he looks really handsome in his uniform, and I just want him to have a good time.

Valentine's Gift

I made this for Kaleb's Kindergarten teacher. I am going to put sprinkles, icing, maybe another cookie cutter (that is one hanging off of the top) so she can have a "cookie kit" to decorate Valentine cookies. She has young children so I thought they would think that was fun. Yes, I am one of THOSE cheesy moms. This is an empty quart paint can that can be bought at Home Depot. They are fun to make. I like to do nice stuff for her, she has made Kaleb's year great so far. I was wondering how this year was going to go. His teacher for the first week of school was escorted out for reasons nobody wanted to talk about (I heard rumors of what happened, but since they are just rumors I don't want to mention them here, let's just say no children were in danger or anything like that). The note we got said she was let go for reasons that were beyond the school's control. Nice. Needless to say he was confused about why he had a totally new teacher the second week of school. She made it so that the kids hardly noticed. She is an experienced Kindergarten teacher and knew how to make the transition for the kids run smoothly. We are happy with her and hope we can request her for Alanna next year!

Lego Boy
Kaleb has been really into Legos lately. We found most of these at a garage sale, and there are quite a few! It keeps him entertained for hours so it is worth the mess, and he builds some pretty cool stuff.
On another note, I went to a friend's baby shower last night. She recently adopted a little girl from China. Her name is Paige, she is 10 months old, and she is adorable. Check out their blog link, The LaBarges (on the right).

Chuck E Cheese
Saturday I took Kaleb to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. A cute little girl in his class invited everyone and he was so excited to go. We had the best time playing skeeball, Kaleb and I both love that game. And it is pretty cool to win tickets and pick out prizes, even if I did spend $50 in tokens for a $.10 prize (HA, HA -they gave him tokens, but doesn't it seem like that??). As an adult though, I look at that place more as a germ haven with very expensive so-so tasting pizza. But it was worth the 150 minutes I was there to see how happy he was, even if I did need 2 Tylenols when I got home. What's funny though is that our children think that Chuck E Cheese is just for birthdays. We never told them that, they just assumed that since it is the only time we ever go there. HMMM, maybe we should go more often??

Kaleb's Zoo Field Trip
Kaleb and I don't have many pictures with just the 2 of us.One of Kaleb's favorite animals were the huge tortoises. One was eating grass right next to the little fence. They were fun to watch.
With the help of a friend and grandma, I was able to go with Kaleb on his pre-K field trip to the Dallas Zoo. We had so much fun. Kim and I are so busy with all the kids that it seems we rarely get to spend time with the kids individually. Kaleb is such a great kid. I am so happy I got to spend the day with him at a place he loves. Every animal we saw he wanted a picture with, it was really cute.

Saturday Mornings
This is how Saturday mornings look at our house. Kim gets up and mows the lawn before it gets hot, and Kaleb is right behind him the whole time helping. A little dangerous, but Kim is really careful, and plus it is so "Kaleb" that we don't want to ruin it for him (he knows not to get too close). Kaleb's favorite gift at his 4th birthday was a "trimmer" so he could help dad with that too. Then it is off to soccer games.

Kaleb's First Lost Tooth

Kaleb was so excited to lose his first tooth- I wasn't, he's not even in kindergarten yet!! Sometimes it seems like he is in such a hurry to grow up to try to keep up with Ross. I like him the way he is, he is such a fun kid. I'll miss him next year when he is in school all day.
Okay, I think I am about done with all our catch-up pictures from the last few weeks.

Kaleb's "2-Wheel" Bike
Kaleb wanted the training wheels taken off of his bike because he wanted his bike to be a "2-wheel" bike. He wanted it to be fast like Ross's bike. We warned him that it was harder to ride a bike like that, but he did not care. He figured out how to ride it in less than 5 minutes. I guess he showed us!
