Green Thumb

Let me begin by saying I do not have a green thumb. I am lucky if I can get my annuals to make it more than a month, and I don't even try with houseplants. But the kids love their grandma's garden and when we bought this house we tried to get a backyard big enough to have one of our own. Last year was our first year to plant one. We went WAY overboard, and we planted too late. The drought really hurt it, and we were not going to spend hundreds of dollars watering it for a few vegetables. This year we planted it 2 months earlier and it is doing really well. We also downsized it a lot, keeping it to 2 long boxes. We have carrots, tomatoes, spinach, and peas. Yesterday I was able to have a spinach salad fresh from the garden. Yippee! Kaleb loves to help in the garden. He helps me weed it, and makes sure to ask if we need to water it. He is such a big helper.

We need to do a garden too. Maybe next year. I'm guessing we're too late this year. Are you doing square foot gardening? If not, you might want to look into it for the future. It's apparently a way easier way to garden than row gardening. Good luck Gardners, with your gardening;-)

Yes I know who you are and am so excited to add you to my blog list. Elena tells me every once in a while that she's kept in contact with you and how you're doing. It's so fun to see your cute family. I love this new blog thing, keep up the info! : )

Shara, you have such a cute family. I just need to see a picture of you and Kim in there. I read Jessica's comment on how she hasn't seen you in years and I thought, "You know, she's right." And, yeah, I think they discontinued the Smuckers jelly beans. I looked it up on their website. Good luck.
